Chapter 02 Page 10
Monday — January 26th, 2009: Chapter 02 Page 10

You Guys Rock

It’s been almost a year since I’ve touched this site. I just sort of left it on hiatus, not knowing what to do with it and figured people would forget about it after a while.
To be honest, I never really wrote any story past chapter two. I had just been sort of winging it. I had no idea people would like it so much. So you can imagine my surprise that I keep getting emails, comments, and notes (particularly on DA) about it. Seriously, I’m touched. I had no idea.
Anyways, I think you guys have finally beat me into submission. I think I’m going to continue with it.
I need some time to figure out what I want to do with it because, like I said, I haven’t thought that far ahead.
Any feedback in regards to story would be greatly appreciated. :)

Not Dead Yet

Ooh I feel so bad for going so long without an update . . .
I’m still alive. Really. Between working and school, I just haven’t found myself able to do much as far as comics go lately. Bear in mind I haven’t forgotten about Starcrossed, it’s just been on hiatus. I can’t say exactly when it will resume, but I’m trying my best to get back to it as quickly as I can. Right now I’m using my spare time to do some writing on it and some much needed character development. While working on chapter 2 I noticed how much I needed to go back and flesh some things out. So hopefully the time I spent writing will be well spent.

As for real life I am currently employed as an early education substitute teacher. I’ve been taking care of kids ages 1-5 lately. It’s cool and all, but not something I want to do for a living. I was a bit embarrassed because I went into a job taking care of one year olds without knowing how to change diapers. :P Luckily they were patient with me and taught me how. The skill has shown to be quite . . . handy when dealing with infants and toddlers. Bleh.

My birthday was last Tuesday (April 14). I am now 25 years old. It’s kind of a weird feeling in a way. I got some Nintendo DS games, some plants to add to my herb garden, money, and a delicious meal. It was the first time I’ve had Middle Eastern food but I have to say I quite like it. :D

Also another reason for lack of pages for a while is my laptop crapped out on me, consequently taking Photoshop with it. It’s ok though. It was technically a rental laptop that I needed in a bind. Plus I really hated using Vista. The only thing that sucks is that it couldn’t wait until my semester was over. I’m currently looking for a new harddrive to get my old Mac up and running until I can afford a new laptop. Right now I’m on my esteemed colleague, Rumor’s, computer which has GIMP (a sort of Photoshop freeware) which I haven’t had much chance to mess with yet.

Also I added a new pic to the fanart section! It’s actually part of an art trade between me and my friend from Deviantart, P-Sanchez. We’ve both been watching each other’s work for a couple of years now on DA and have done quite a few art trades in the past. His work is awesome and has gotten better over time. Do stop by and check his work. I love his Vincent the Third comic. :D

Once I get my half of the trade done, I’ll post a link here. :P

Schedule Conclusion

I think I have figured out a solution for my updating problem. I said my schedule is really erratic which makes it really hard to stick to something resembling a regular schedule to update.
I finished my homework way ahead of schedule for the week and I was thinking of just drawing a ton of pages for SC.
I had figured each chapter would be roughly around 30 pages (give or take). What I was thinking of doing is finishing off the pages all in one big chunk. Once they’re close to done I’m going to upload them and update once a day.
This means you’ll have to wait a little longer for each update, but you’ll be getting a whole chapter at once. This takes some stress off of me while still getting new material out and prepare for the next chapter.
I hope that’s a good compromise, and I’m sorry for everyone who’s been waiting. I’ll get some new stuff up soon. :D

Edit: Oh and I also got a new fanart from Amuletts. Check it out!

Scheduling

Sorry for this being so late, I had meant to make a post a few days ago and just got caught up. Yeah there was no update Friday. I have the next page drawn and inked, just not colored yet.
Here’s basically a brief summary of what I’ve been going through in the past couple of months. . . Over winter break I transferred schools. I was going to Kansas City Art Institute as an animation major beforehand and decided animation really wasn’t what I wanted to do. After weighing my options as to switching majors I realized what I wanted to do was illustration. The problem was that KCAI had got rid of its illustration program a few years prior. They’re bringing it back but I basically wouldn’t be able to take classes in it until 2012 and, well, I just didn’t want to wait that long, lol.
So I started looking for other schools and found one in San Francisco that had what I was looking for. Since I am, unfortunately, not in a position to move to the West coast I am currently taking classes online (and I love not having to drive to class anymore).
Plus I was hired on as a substitute teacher. The schedule for that is really erratic, basically I work when they need me. I could work five days a week or none at all depending on what’s open.
And in the last few days I’ve been feeling weird lately. I haven’t been able to eat anything and I’ve been feeling nauseous. I think I have some sort of flu starting because I’ve also been completely drained for energy and I’ve been having weird headaches. Blah.
I’m posting this here because I’m going to have to do some moving around to make time for Starcrossed. I’m aiming for once a week still, but it won’t be on a set day. It just depends on how much time I have that week.
This semester I have to go back and take some Foundations classes that didn’t transfer to this school so I’m doing some basic Figure Drawing and Photoshop classes that are easy enough. But I’m also taking a figure sculpting class that my professor has warned will be more time consuming during midterms and finals. So there might be a period in March and May where I’m a bit unavailable. :P I’ve never sculpted before so I’m a bit nervous.
Either way, expect the next Starcrossed page when I get over the initial funk I have right now.

Page 9

Page 9 is now up, sorry for the delay. I’m not entirely happy with it but at least it was better than it was. Page 10 will be up Friday as per usual.

Slight Delay

Hey guys, just letting you know the comic’ll be a bit late this week. I was going to color and decided I didn’t like the last panel of page 9 so I’m going to redraw it. It’ll be up either late Friday or Saturday.

Sorry for the delay, but I want to make sure it’s good. ;)

Happy Holidays Plus A World of Hurt

I hope everyone is having a happy holiday regardless of what you celebrate. I’m currently trying my best to get page 8 up in time for Friday but it may be a little late.
Other than the typical holiday business I fell last night and dislocated my knee. I had gone over to my grandmother’s house to do laundry. The weather was getting a little bad and I slipped on some ice whilst carrying a basket of laundry to my car to go home.
There’s nothing like hearing a sickening pop and looking down to see your patella sticking out of the side of your knee. After informing my grandmother to call my parents and to stay in the house (which was communicated by screaming “OHMYGAWD IT HURTS! WHY DID I HAVE TO DO LAUNDRY?! CALL MOM!”)
Since the weather was then getting icy so it took my parents about a half hour to get to the house. In the meantime I was lying on the frozen tundra called the front yard in agony because I was unable to move. My parents arrived and my dad informed me that I was idiot for lying exposed to the elements, at which time he tried to carry me to his truck to take me to the hospital. Being the master of wit that I am, I retorted with a blood curdling scream. We then called an ambulance.
Upon arriving at the hospital I was sobbing and crying like a little girl. They then sedated (most likely to shut me up) and popped it back into place.
After waking up, I felt great. More than great, I was spectacular. I felt so awesome, in fact, that I felt the need to call and share it with everyone I knew. It was more fun than that trip to the dentist office when I got the happy gas.
Long story short I am on sweet, sweet meds. I have already eaten my fair share of cookie dough, and after posting this I plan on going to bed and passing out.
Oh and the laundry was another casualty. It spilled and some of the clothes got dirty so I have to wash them again. Weak.
Next time I’m getting my own washer and dryer.

Comments

You may have noticed that the comment function ceases to exist after a couple of days on all my posts. It’s kind of a daunting task to moderate every comment that comes in (yes I read every comment) after a while. There isn’t much point in commenting on old posts. Plus comments, particularly on controversial subjects, tend to get a little out of hand.

You’re still more than welcome to leave a comment, I love getting comments. But there’s also a forum for when you guys want to have more in depth discussions. (Plus the Starcrossed forum actually works now!)

I’m Back!

Starcrossed is now back up and running! My semester ended yesterday, so now I have more time to devote to the comic. Thanks to you guys who stuck around for the momentary hiatus.
Also you’ll notice page six is colored. Partially to make up for the lack of updating, but I also figure if I’m going to give you guys comic, I should make it look the best I can. So expect Starcrossed to be in color from now on.
And I got my first fanart! Check it out here. Senshuu was kind enough to send it and exchange links with me.

School

Sorry for not updating Friday. I’m having finals coming up and I’m currently in the middle of transferring schools. I’ll try to get a page up this week, but things might be a little slow right now until I get my projects done first.
